Applying for an Absentee Ballot

View the Connecticut Online Absentee Ballot Request Portal.

If a registered voter is unable to vote in person on Election Day, the voter may apply to the Town Clerk for an absentee ballot for any of the following reasons:

  • Active service in the Armed Forces of the United States
  • Absence from the town of residence
  • Sickness
  • Religious tenets
  • Duties as an election official at your polling place on Election Day
  • Physical disability

Before a ballot can be issued to the voter, an application must be completed and returned to the Town Clerk. The application can be obtained in person, by mail or by clicking link above. The printed application must be signed* by the voter and mailed or hand delivered to the clerk's office. When using the Connecticut Online Absentee Ballot Request Portal, the application will be electronically delivered to the Town Clerk's office the next day.
