Beautification Commission
The Darien Beautification Commission was incorporated into the town government as a full commission in 1991 for the purpose of "stimulating and coordinating public and private actions for maintaining and improving the overall physical appearance of Darien."

Commission on Aging
The Town does hereby create a Commission on Aging which shall consist of eleven members to be appointed by the Board of Selectmen. Commission members shall serve for three-year terms commencing on April 1 of the year of their appointment.

Planning & Zoning Commission
There shall be a planning and zoning commission of six regular members, elected as provided in this act. This commission shall function as the planning commission and the zoning commission of the town. The First Selectman and the Superintendent of Public Works shall be ex officio members of the commission.

Town Pension Board
The general administration of the plan and the responsibility for carrying out the provision of the plan shall be placed in the town pension board. This board shall be made up of not fewer than three nor more than five electors appointed by the board of selectmen of the town.

Youth Commission
The Youth Commission shall act as an advocate for youth services by developing, planning, coordinating, and/or conducting programs and/or activities focused on enrichment for the youth of the Town of Darien.

Zoning Board of Appeals
The zoning board of appeals shall consist of five members. The members shall be appointed as of July first in the year of their appointment and shall serve for a term of three years from that date. In any year, a sufficient number of appointments to the board shall be made to fill the vacancies arising because of the expiration of any member's term of office.
