Real Estate / Personal Property Appeal Procedure

The Board of Assessment Appeals (BAA) meets during March to hear appeals for all property classes, and once during September to hear Motor Vehicle appeals applicable to the Grand List filed by the Assessor by January 31st.

A meeting with the Board of Assessment Appeals to review your assessment can be scheduled online at www.darienct.gov/baa or by calling the Assessor's office at 203-656-7310 no later than February 20th. An application to the BAA must be submitted by the deadline.

Call the Assessor's office for more information or email the Board of Assessment Appeals (BAA).

If you are not satisfied with the determination of the Board of Assessment Appeals, you may appeal their action to Superior Court. This must be done within two months of the action of the Board. If you choose to appeal your assessment to the Superior Court directly without recourse to the Board of Assessment Appeals, you must appeal to the Superior Court within one year from the date the property was last assessed.
