Wreathing for Seniors Partnership

The Darien Youth Commission (DYC) is pleased to announce that we will again partner with our friends at the Mather Senior Center for the now annual Wreathing for Seniors Activity.  Here's how it works:

• Middle & high school students are invited to sign up to decorate one of 50 wreaths provided by the DYC.  Advance registration is required & begins on Monday, 11/06.  (Online registration link found here.)
• Wreath pick-up in the DYC office (Town Hall, Room 110) is Monday, 11/20 - Wednesday, 11/22.
• Students are encouraged to decorate their wreaths in a most creative, festive & celebratory way!
• Decorated wreaths are to be returned to the DYC office by Wednesday, 11/29 for distribution at the Mather Senior Center Luncheon on Thursday, 11/30.

Darien Youth Commission and Person-to-Person Drive-thru Food Drives

We would like to extend a huge shout-out of thanks and gratitude to the many residents who supported our Drive-thru Food Drive on Saturday, November 4 benefiting Person-to-Person (P2P).  We put forth an appeal and residents responded.  A rough guestimate indicates that we collected and donated over 2 tons of food to P2P's food pantry.   

The Darien Youth Commission and Person to Person would like to thank everyone who supported our past joint Drive-Thru Food Drives (seven in less than three years).  The generosity of the people in this community is humbling and so appreciated.  We never cease to be amazed by friends and neighbors responding to the needs of others. 

Donations that best serve our community include; Hearty Soups, Cereal, Oatmeal, Pancake Mix, Peanut Butter, Jelly, Canned Fruit & Veggies, Dried & Canned Beans, Fresh Produce, Bags or Boxes of Rice, Pasta, Sauce, Protein & Nutrition Bars, Shelf-Stable Milk, and Baby Food.  Thank you for your continued support.
