Thinking about becoming a volunteer?
        Being a fully volunteer fire department, we depend on individuals who can help and lend
a hand to preserve this great organization and to provide fire protection for the Town of Darien. Without these volunteers who unselfishly give up some of their free time, the fire service could not be what it is today.
        If you are sixteen years of age or older, are willing to learn this honorable trade and want to provide a service to your community, then we have a position for you at the Noroton Heights Fire Department.

But firefighting is not for you...
        The Noroton Heights Fire Department has many positions, other than firefighting, that are filled completely by volunteers. Would you like to help out with our fund drive, Christmas tree sale, or other fund raising efforts? Would you like to be a member of our building committee or Board of Directors and handle the business side of the organization? If you answered yes to any of these, then don't hesitate to become a volunteer with the Noroton Heights Fire Department.

Noroton Heights Fire Department Membership Requirements:

Line Firefighter:
- Any resident of the United States
- At least sixteen (16) years of age
- Resident of the Town of Darien, CT or Employed by business located in the Town of Darien,   CT or Resident of a town immediately adjacent to the Town of Darien. CT
- Must not be a member of any other fire department within the Town of Darien
- Must provide a endorsed physicians medical statement which attests and certifies the   applicant is in good health and physical fitness.
- Must complete a 6 month probation period and be at least eighteen (18) years old before   being moved to active status
- Once at active status, member must make one (1) drill per month, three (3) business   meetings per  year, and ten (10) percent of total alarms per year.

Non-Line Firefighter (no firefighting duties):
- Any resident of the United States
- At least sixteen (16) years of age
- Resident of the Town of Darien, CT or Employed by business located in the Town of Darien,
  CT or Resident of a town immediately adjacent to the Town of Darien. CT
- Must not be a member of any other fire department within the Town of Darien
- May not participate in any line firefighting functions
- Must attend all clean-ups
- Attend seven (7) business meeting per year
- Shall have an active part in the Department, but shall not vote for one (1) year from election   date
- After one (1) year, shall have the right to vote on any motion, but not in any election and may   be elected or appointed to any executive office, committee of board other than President,   Chief, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
