Waking Up White: A Conversation on Bias, Privilege and Racism

Be part of the conversation as Darien Library and YWCA Darien/Norwalk present a conversation with author and educator Debby Irving, author ofWaking Up White: And Finding Myself in the Story of Race.

Debby Irving is a leading voice in the national racial justice community. Her book shares how she came to understand racial justice, and how that understanding led her to dig deeply into her own white privilege, where she found truths she never knew existed.

This event will take place as a Zoom webinar.

Afterwards: Community-Wide Reading and Discussion

The July 13th conversation will be followed by a community-wide reading of the book. And for those who wish to participate, facilitated discussion groups will meet throughout the summer. The groups will reconvene inmid-September to explore lessons learned and next steps.
