BE IT RESOLVED that the Advisory Commission on Information Technology (ITC) shall be renamed as the Advisory Commission on Information Technology (ACIT)
BE IT RESOLVED that the Advisory Commission on Information Technology (ACIT) shall continue to provide advice and leadership in technology issues to the town boards and commissions.
The mission and the composition of the Commission shall be as described below.
- The ACIT shall have responsibility to
- Provide a forum for town executives, officials and electors to meet and to discuss technology issues.
- Provide technology leadership for the town.
- Facilitate technology liaison between town boards and commissions.
- Coordinate with and advise the CIOs – Town, Library and Board of Education.
- Provide both advocacy and public awareness of town technology efforts.
- The ACIT shall further have responsibility for the Town of Darien, and when requested by the Board of Education and/or the Library to:
- Advise on plans for the use of technology.
- Review capital budgets
- Monitor the progress of projects and the use of the capital budgets.
- Technology, at present, is defined as computers, software, communications, internet activities, data/communications security, networks, the manual systems which are a part of the computer systems and the application programs, such as, accounting, and GIS, police/fire dispatch systems.
- The ACIT shall be composed of:
- 5 members who are electors of the town – appointed by the Board of Selectmen with consultation with the Board of Education and the Library.
- 5 members – appointed as liaison by the Boards of Education, Selectmen, Finance and the Library, and by the Darien Technology Foundation..
- Ex-Officio Members – town managers/employees who have direct involvement in technology issues specifically to include the Director – Technology.
- Ad Hoc Members – heads of town departments and/or boards who may attend, from time to time, in order to coordinate and/or contribute to the ACIT activities.
- The ACIT, under the offices of the town CIO, shall maintain ACIT records and files so as to meet the state laws on records retention and freedom of information.
- The ACIT shall submit an annual report of its activities and accomplishments at the end of each fiscal year.
