Architects Statement:
Herbert S. Newman and Partners PC has significant experience with the design of both public and private schools over the years -- including Windsor High School in Windsor, Conard High School and William H. Hall High School in West Hartford, the West Hills/Conte K-8 School in New Haven, the Taft School, Greenwich Academy, Loomis Chaffee School, Kent School and Hopkins School. We also have years of observation of students through teaching and working in education environments, where we have developed unique ideas about the design of school facilities that enhance the quality of life for the students, faculty and administration.

We believe that there is no higher task in society than to prepare our young for the future, so as architects we have chosen to specialize in buildings that serve the young and the advancement of knowledge. We aspire to design buildings that provide settings in which learning is more memorable. Our observation is that the capacity to remember with affection the places we have experienced is intrinsic to the experience of belonging -- to the community and to the world. We believe that the quality of school design helps to make the learning experience more positive for children and more rewarding for their teachers.
