Important Information about Your New Medicare Card:  By now, you should have received your new Medicare card, which no longer contains your Social Security Number.  Effective January 2020, you must use this new card at all health care providers (physicians, hospitals, and pharmacies such as Grieb's, Walgreen's, and CVS).  Please click here for more information.

Energy Assistance Program:  The Connecticut Energy Assistance Program helps eligible Darien families with home heating costs.  Applications for the 2019-2020 program will be accepted until Monday, March 2, 2020 for households with oil heat; and Friday, April 17 for households with electric, gas or propane heat.  Residents must meet the income restrictions found here.

Donations:  We gladly accept donations of gift cards, household products, and medical equipment.
Gift Cards for Shop-Rite, Stop & Shop, gas stations, Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, and AMEX, MasterCard or Visa are all needed throughout the year and are much appreciated by families and seniors in need.
Household Products:  New (unopened) full-size cleaning supplies, paper goods, and personal grooming and hygiene products are used to help stock our Home Goods Closet.  (No trial sizes, please).
Medical Equipment:  We accept donations of new (or gently-used) wheelchairs, transport chairs, walkers, crutches and canes.  Personal hygiene equipment such as commodes and shower chairs must be new and unopened.  Please call our office prior to dropping off the equipment.
All donations can be dropped off at Room 109 of Town Hall.

Emergency Call List:  Staff keeps a list of Darien seniors and disabled individuals to contact prior to a storm or town-wide emergency to provide reassurance and peace of mind.  Staff will also inform residents of resources available in the community such as Emergency Shelters and Cooling Centers when necessary.  If you would like to have your name added to the Emergency Call List, please call 203-656-7328.

Homebound with unused Rx Medications?  Darien Police Officers will collect them from your home by appointment.  Click here for more info.

The Household Supply Closet is designed to meet the needs of low income Darien residents by providing much-needed household items such as paper goods, cleaning supplies, and personal grooming and hygiene products.  The closet is partially funded by private donations.  We are collecting new, full size household goods products (no sample size products please) during March.  To see the list of needed items click here.  Donations can be dropped off in Room 109.  Thank you!

The Loan Closet provides free, short term loans of durable medical equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, canes and crutches.  A refundable deposit of $50 (check payable to "Town of Darien") is required for wheelchairs, transport chairs and walkers with a seat.

Municipal Veteran's Representative:  Ali Ramsteck, LCSW, Director, is a Municipal Veteran's Representative for the town of Darien and is available to meet with veterans and their families to provide support, information and referral to local, state, and federal agencies that serve veterans and their dependents.
