Darien Human Services offers a variety of services and support to the residents of Darien. The staff has a wide range of experience and training in the area of Human Services and is available to assist residents either by phone, e-mail or in their office at Town Hall. Darien Human Services Gift Giving Program

During the holidays, our department provides toys, gifts, and retail or restaurant gift cards to Darien residents who are struggling financially. Please call the office to see how you might be able to help your neighbors in need.

NEW MEDICARE CARDS

After June 30, 2018 and before April 1, 2019, Connecticut residents should start receiving their NEW Medicare cards.  Your new card will have a new Medicare Number that's unique to you.  The new card will help protect your identity and keep your personal information more secure.  Your Medicare coverage and benefits stay the same.

Homebound with unused Rx Medications?  Darien Police Officers will collect them from your home by appointment.  Click here for more info.

The Household Supply Closet for eligible Darien residents is partially funded by private donations.  To see the list of needed items click here.  Donations are greatly appreciated.

2018-2019 Energy Assistance Program:  We will begin accepting applications on Monday, September 10, 2018 for households with oil or gas heat; Monday October 1, 2018 for utility-heated households.  Please see here for more information.

The Human Services Loan Closet provides free, short term loans of durable medical equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, canes and crutchesA refundable deposit of $50 (check payable to "Town of Darien") is required for wheelchairs, transport chairs and walkers with a seat.

Human Services Emergency Call List:  Staff keeps a list of seniors or disabled individuals to call prior to a storm or town wide emergency.  Calls are also made during and after to provide reassurance.  If you are a Darien resident, and would like to have your name added to the list, please call 203-656-7328.
