2019 Renters Rebate Program:  Darien senior citizens and/or disabled residents who are renters may be eligible for a rent rebate from the State of Connecticut for the year 2018.  We will begin accepting applications on Monday, April 1, 2019.  The programs runs through September 30, 2019.  Please see here for more information.

Affordable Housing:  The Darien Housing Authority (DHA) owns and operates Old Town Hall Houses (719 Post Road) which are restricted to lower-income elderly and disabled households and individuals.  The apartments are being rebuilt and the waitlist is currently closed.  DHA also owns and operates The Heights (24 Allen O’Neill Drive), a mix of income-restricted one, two, and three bedroom dwellings.  All interested parties should contact the Darien Housing Authority at 203-655-0866.  Darien Human Services is not affiliated with DHA and cannot handle any inquiries.

Emergency Call List:  Staff keeps a list of seniors or disabled individuals to call prior to a storm or town wide emergency.  Calls are also made during and after to provide reassurance.  If you are a Darien resident, and would like to have your name added to the list, please call 203-656-7328.

Homebound with unused Rx Medications?  Darien Police Officers will collect them from your home by appointment.  Click here for more info.

The Household Supply Closet is designed to meet the needs of low income Darien residents by providing much-needed household items such as paper goods, cleaning supplies, and personal grooming and hygiene products.  The closet is partially funded by private donations.  To see the list of needed items click here.  Donations can be dropped off in Room 109.  Thank you!

The Loan Closet provides free, short term loans of durable medical equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, canes and crutches.  A refundable deposit of $50 (check payable to "Town of Darien") is required for wheelchairs, transport chairs and walkers with a seat.
