When are Elections Held?

Darien holds an election every November

  • Election Day is the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.
  • Voting hours are from 6:00 AM until 8:00 PM.

The following elections are scheduled on a rotating basis:

  • 2003 Local Election (Town & Elected Boards)
  • 2004 Federal and State (Presidential, Senatorial, Congressional, etc.)
  • 2005 State Election (Gubernatorial)

This cycle is repeated starting in the year 2006

Every four years a Presidential Preference Primary is held in March if called.

Primary elections are held in September when challenges to endorsed candidates are called.

Referenda are held any time during the year when an issue facing the Town of Darien is presented.

Voting for all of the above is done at your regular polling place.
